SORA is an upcoming development in the highly anticipated Jurong Lake District, a location pegged to be Singapore's 2nd CBD - Central Business District and a new and upcoming tourism spot in the near future.

The development is set to be located at 72 - 78 Yuan Ching Road (Pending Approval), where it is seated directly at the edge of Jurong Lake Gardens, replacing the older development, known as Park View Mansions - which has been en-bloc to make way for SORA.

Not only may the residences of SORA conveniently access the park simply by heading downstairs, residences will also be able to enjoy the spectacular view of the Jurong Lake Gardens and enjoy the breathe of fresh air all the surrounding greeneries have to offer.

The nearest MRT is the Lakeside MRT station which is approximately 1km away, which translates to around 15 minutes walking distance. For residences not too keen on walking, SORA does provide a one-year free shuttle-bus service to Lakeside MRT station. This shuttle-bus service may be extended with the agreement of stakeholders in the AGM. Otherwise, there is a bus-stop directly in front of the development which has a bus service that takes commuters to Lakeside MRT and Clementi MRT station.

Based on URA's development plan, exciting business and employment opportunities await in the upcoming Jurong Lake District (JLD). With new urban solutions and infrastructure to create more pleasant working and living environments for all with quality offices, housing, amenities and abundant green spaces. A complementary leisure and recreational cluster has also been planned around Jurong Lake to leverage on the area's unique lakeside and garden setting. While 4 MRT lines will also be serving the district by 2035, residents, workers and visitors will have enhanced accessibility to the rest of the island, including direct connections to the CBD, Changi Airport and JID.

Jurong lies in Singapore’s western region and has come a long way since it first emerged as a small settlement during the 1900s, from modest beginnings into an active district with numerous rubber plantations, fishing ponds, and other amenities in its early days. Now one of Singapore’s vibrant districts, Jurong is renowned for its variety of entertainment offerings as well as being home to some of Singapore’s highest educational institutes and businesses.

Attracted by its rich clayey soil known as ‘nian tu’, Jurong became an epicenter for brickworks and pottery industries, producing three million bricks every month to meet local development demands. This signaled Jurong’s initial steps toward industrialisation – marking its gradual transformation.

In the 1960s, under the watchful guidance of Dutch economist Albert Winsemius, Jurong’s major industrialisation wave began to flourish. A vast swamp was carefully managed in order to open up space for residential, recreational, and industrial facilities; National Iron & Steel Mills became the focal point of these efforts on September 1, 1962 with sectors including shipbuilding, sawmilling, timber production and oil-rig fabrication at its forefront.

From 1970-1990, Jurong Industrial Estate experienced rapid development through infrastructure investments and recreational facilities that aimed at increasing its attractiveness for workers – thus leading to significant advancements of public transport systems such as MRT and LRT rail networks

.
As Jurong expanded, amenities essential for comfortable living quickly followed, including markets, schools, sports complexes, libraries, worship places, polyclinics, community centres and even a country club. Such rapid expansion transformed Jurong into a self-sufficient and holistic residential area.

Today, Jurong stands as an embodiment of Singapore’s visionary planning, providing its residents with quality living full of amenities. SORA Condo in Lakeside celebrates this legacy while providing future residents with a vibrant lifestyle – making the property one of its unique selling points.
